George R. Duncan

GEORGE R. DUNCAN

Hartford City, IN

George R. Duncan, 70, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009 at Miller’s Merry Manor after an extended illness.

A native of Rolling Station, Tennessee, he was born July 9, 1938, the son of Ira F. and Hallie M. (Wilburn) Duncan and was a resident of Blackford County since childhood.

A 1956 graduate of Roll High School, he also received an accounting degree from Indiana Business School in Fort Wayne.

George was a self-employed contractor most of his life and had worked at Waters Funeral Home over ten years. He was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cora Jean Caladine (husband, Richard), Hagerstown, MD; one son, Jeffrey R. Duncan (wife, Renea), Delphi, IN; one brother, Ron F. Duncan, Albany; two sisters, Glenda Schroeder (husband, Ivan), Maquoketa, IA and Phyllis Maxwell (husband, Alvin), Cadiz, OH; one brother-in-law, J. Robert Mitchell, Lafayette; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother on February 8, 1978, his father on November 28, 1996, his step-mother, Estel Bratton Duncan on October 8, 2005 and his sister, Brenda Mitchell on December 12, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 29 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Kevin Lex presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until services Monday, June 29.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to his family for final expenses.

Paul E. Daugherty

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Paul E. Daugherty, 94, former Hartford City resident, passed away May 18, 2009 at his residence in Pentwater, Michigan.

He was born April 17, 1915, to Earl and Nellie (Rodgers) Daugherty. Two children survive, Michael Daugherty , Hartford City and Jane Shannon, Daleville.

Cremation was held.

Bernice R. Fisher

BERNICE R. FISHER

ROLL, IN

Bernice R. Fisher, 97, resident of Roll, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 in the Blackford Community Hospital Emergency Room.

The daughter of Alfred L. and Willie May Blanche (Green) Riddle, Bernice was born January 21, 1912 in Connersville. She married Ray Fisher on August 26, 1933 in Connersville and had lived in Blackford County for 69 years.

Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #346, Connersville.

Surviving are: her son, Lane Fisher, Roll; 2 grandchildren, Mike (Stacey) Fisher, Pendleton and Michele (Matthew) Mentis, Muncie; 3 great-grandchildren, Claire Fisher and Mabrey and Myla Mentis.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 12, 1985, a brother, Mark Riddle, a sister, Alice Wilkerson and a great-granddaughter, Melia Mentis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Chris Neel officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4.

Robert A. Parker

ROBERT A. PARKER

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Robert A. Parker, 61, Hartford City, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 30 in Veterans Administration Hospital, Marion.

A native and life resident of Blackford County, he was born March 16, 1948, the son of L. Harvey and Florence L. (Marshall) Parker. He attended Montpelier schools.

Mr. Parker worked for the Sneath Glass Company until its closing then worked at Overhead Door and Hartford Phone. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served two tours of duty and after his discharge served 18 years in the National Guard.

Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #159 and AmVets Post #23 both of Hartford City.

Surviving are two sisters, Karen Sills, Montpelier, and Nancy (Melvin) Parker, Hartford City and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in the Marion National Cemetery with military rites.

Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home after noon on Wednesday.
