Ricardo Solis, 40

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Ricardo Solis, 40, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the I.U. Medical Center, Indianapolis, after a short battle with leukemia.

He was born April 27, 1969 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico and had resided in this area for fourteen years.

An employee of Tyson Foods of Portland for twelve years, he was most recently employed at Meridian Foods, Eaton.

He is survived by his wife, Dana D. (Barnes) Solis; his son, Christian Ricardo Solis; two step-daughters, Morgan Sargent and Shannon (Shatto) Lamotte (husband, Adam), Hartford City; two grandchildren, Gracie and Kelsi Lamotte; his parents, Juan and Hortensia Solis, Muncie; two brothers, Geraldo (Erika) Solis, Houston, TX and their children, Erik, Aaron and Daniela and Juan Solis, Muncie; a sister, Sara (Naji) Hedgecoe, Yorktown and their children, Alex and Johnathan; and a special cousin, Thomas Ramirez.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Jonathan Cabrera presiding. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilbur F. Bowen, 80

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Wilbur F. Bowen, 80, passed away Tuesday, June, 30, 2009, in Ball Memorial Hospital.

The son of Wilbur J. and Emily M. (Lechien) Bowen, he was born September 11, 1928, in Chicago and moved to Hartford City as a child. Wilbur graduated from Hartford City High School in 1946. He married Agnes Schott in Alexandria on September 25, 1954.

Wilbur was employed at Overhead Door for 19 years and then worked as a truck driver for Hartford Concrete Products for 33 years.

Wilbur was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Agnes; his children, Julia & Mark Mc Cleary, Indianapolis, Patricia & Rusty Beedle, De Motte, Mary Bowen, Fort Wayne, Jeffrey & Gayle Bowen, Westfield, Teresa & Terry Maddox, Plainfield, IL and Joseph Bowen, Hartford City;10 grandchildren, Anna & Erik Christensen, Patrick Mc Cleary, Andrew & Daniel Beedle, Abigail, Emily & Matthew Bowen, Margaret & Michael Maddox ; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Sills.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. from 4-8 P.M. Thursday, July 2 and Friday from 9 – 10:30 a.m. The Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

The family requests memorials to St. John’s Building Fund or Indiana Right to Life.
