A homemaker, she had worked on the farm most of her younger years. She moved to Blackford County in 1954 and had resided in Upland the past 20 years.

She attended the First Church of God, Eaton.

Surviving are: 5 sons; Allen (Joan) Smith, Winter Haven, FL, Daniel (Dana) Smith and Gary (Amy) Smith, both of Hartford City, Jack (Caroline) Smith, Naples, FL., and Robert Smith, Upland; 3 daughters, Janet Leffingwell, Upland, Ruby (David) Schultz, Kendallville, and Mary (John) Atkinson, Nappanee; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Ronald L. Smith and 2 brothers, Noel Wiley and Kenneth Edward Hill.

Inez always put others first - whether it be in service to them or to her family. Her love for others was evident in everything she did and said. She gained wisdom through her study of God’s word. This wisdom helped her walk closely with God throughout her life on earth. Now she is with her Lord, King Jesus, in her heavenly home and awaits there for the rest of her loved ones, family & friends to join her. She was known for living a prudent life – doing what was right, just and fair. She understood that “the fear of the Lord” was the beginning of knowledge - Proverbs 7. Now she will be missed so much here on earth, but one thing we who loved her know is that, there is rejoicing in heaven on that day. She is being reunited with her Lord and loved ones in heaven.
