HERBERT H. HOLSTEN

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Herbert H. Holsten, 74, passed away Sunday morning, September 26, 2010, in University Nursing Center, Upland.

The son of Martin and Laura (Pretzlaff) Holsten, he was born in Portland, Indiana on December 16, 1935. Herbert graduated from Roll High School in 1953 and served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He married Peggy Elam in Hartford City on October 25, 1958 and lived most of his life in Blackford County.

Herb was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and worked at 3-M Company for over 30 years.

Survivors include: his wife, Peggy; 3 sons, Jeff (Dawn) Holsten, Albuquerque, NM, Jacob (Diana) Holsten, Hartford City, and Bradley (Denise), Albany, IN; 8 grandchildren, Megan Holsten, Jeremy (Cassandra) Holsten, Jarrett Holsten, Tiffany Holsten, Ryan Holsten, Kyle Holsten, Parker Holsten and Brittany (Cole) Chambers; 2 great-grandchildren, Paislee Chambers and Preston Holsten; and a sister, Leona (Richard) Ruch, Sweetser.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glen, and a sister, Louise Holsten.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Father Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday.

ARIA GRACIE MARIE MANSFIELD

MUNCIE, INDIANA

Aria Gracie Marie Mansfield, infant daughter of Ashley Marie Mansfield, was stillborn at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Ball Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her grandmother, Amy Mansfield, grandfather, Matt Mansfield (wife, Charlotte), maternal great-grandparents, Jessie and Frank Garinger, paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Sandra Mansfield, great-great-grandmothers, Margaret Corner and Alice Reynolds, an aunt Makyla Mansfield and two uncles, Austin Mansfield and Ethon Mansfield and several great aunts and uncles.

She was preceded into eternal rest by great-great-grandparents, Chester and Grace Brown, and great-great-grandfathers, Lee Mansfield and Walter Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Dr. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will follow the service in Hartford City Cemetery next to her great-great-grandmother.

Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.

HELEN E. CAPPER

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Helen E. Capper, 96, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Blackford Community Hospital.

She was born October 13, 1913 in Banquo, Indiana, the daughter of William Levi and Dora Ethel (Parke) Hairrell. A 1931 graduate of Banquo High School, she had resided in Hartford City since 1943. In 1945 Helen married Fred Capper who died in 1967.

She had been employed as a machine operator for 25 years at HP Products, retiring in 1978.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Christian Home Fellowship, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Hartford City.

Surviving are: two sons, Harry Bowman and Gary (Carolyn) Bowman, both of Hartford City; two daughters, Sherry (Bob) Reynolds, Hartford City and Gayle (Jack) Nelson, Elkhart; a sister, Ruth Sprowl, Huntington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Ronald Capper, six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 7 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
