THELMA M. THOMAS

HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA

Thelma M. Thomas, 85, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at University Nursing Center, Upland.

She was born July 8, 1926 in Marion to Homer and Florence (Miller) Ross and resided most of her life in Blackford County. Thelma graduated from Roll High School in 1944 and then from the Marion School of Cosmetology. She was a homemaker and operated the Poplar Beauty Shop for several years.

Thelma married Billy R. Thomas on September 11, 1974 in Hartford City. He survives.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, D.A.V. Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Marion VA Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Thomas, Hartford City; a son, Beni Clevenger, Nashville, Indiana; two brothers, Dale (Joy) Ross, Gas City and Roscoe (Janet) Ross, Montpelier; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also three step-children, two step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26 in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor David Fleener officiating. Burial will be a private service at Gardens of Memory.

Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25 and one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe St., Hartford City 47348.
