JACK L. WHITESELL


ROLL, IN
Jack L. Whitesell, 77, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born on March 2, 1936 to George W. and Marie (Flatter) Whitesell in Hartford City.
He married Carol E. Pierce on March 2, 1957 in Marion, Indiana.
Jack worked for GM in Marion for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was a life resident of Blackford County.
He loved watching baseball, especially the New York Yankees.
Survivors include his four sons, Tom (Rita) Whitesell of Alexandria, Bill (Lynn) Whitesell of Hartford City, Paul (Kristin) Whitesell of Hartford City, and Kevin (Jessica) Whitesell of Muncie; seven grandchildren, Jennifier Kirk, Kristy Whitesell, Derek Norris, Braden Whitesell, Jaycee Whitesell, Jenna Whitesell, and Kamryn Whitesell; four great-grandchildren, Holly Kirk, Matthew Smith, Melody Garland, and Piper Norris; three siblings, Donnie (Martha) Whitesell, Mary (Ron) Warner, and Jane Maddox, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol in 2005, his parents, nine brothers, George Whitesell, Larry Whitesell, Darrell Whitesell, Charles Whitesell, Eldon Whitesell, Harry Whitesell, Jerry Whitesell, Thomas Whitesell, and James Whitesell; and two sisters, Letha Hammond, and Wanda Whitesell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

THOMAS F. HOLIDAY


HARTFORD CITY, IN
Thomas F. Holiday, 76, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at AMG Specialty Hospital, Muncie after an extended illness.
Thomas was born on February 2, 1937 in Hartford City and was a life resident of this area.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. After his service, he was employed at Stutz Manufacturing and Sinclair Glass.
Thomas married Dessie C. Jones on June 14, 1957.
He loved fishing and sports. He coached all of his children and never missed any of his grandchildrens’ sporting events. Thomas also loved playing the lottery.
Thomas belonged to the Amvets Post #23 in Hartford City.
Survivors include his wife, Dessie;  five children, Thomas “Tommy” Holiday, of Hartford City, Rita Boozer (Lloyd Litchfield), of Hartford City, Stephen (Monica) Holiday, of Hartford City, Teresa (Christopher) Matney, of Pennville, and Christopher (Michelle) Holiday, of Hartford City; a brother, Joseph Snyder, three sisters, Nancy (Larry) Wisler, Cheryl (Joe) Dill, and Marion Snyder Wright; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dessie Frances Holiday, father, Talmage Thomas Holiday, mother, Helen Louise Coronato Snyder, and step-father, Bud Snyder.
Military Rites and honors will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Marion National Cemetery with burial following. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Thursday at Waters Funeral Home 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City, prior to the procession departing for the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Tim Clegg, Richard Wolfe, Timmy Wolfe, Daniel Ring, Derrick Ring, Steve Maddox, Jason Maddox, Ryan Holiday, Thomas Holiday, and Tyson Holiday.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home, in lieu of flowers.

CURT T. FLANAGAN


HARTFORD CITY, IN
Curt T. Flanagan, 62, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his residence.
Curt was born on March 19, 1951 to Clifford and Frances (Kienle) Flanagan in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1969 and attended Elgin Jr. College in Elgin, Illinois.
Curt married Joette Norton on August 21, 1971 at St. Mary’s Church in Montpelier.
He worked for GripCo Fasteners in Montpelier for 25 years and had been employed at Petosky Plastics in Hartford City since their opening.
Curt was an avid golfer belonging to the Lakeview Golf Club in Eaton. He routinely played in the Redeye Tournament in Eaton, as well as the Muncie District Tournament.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joette; three brothers, Chris Flanagan of New Castle, Cliff (Betty) Flanagan of Port Richie, FL, and Charles Flanagan of Aurora, IL; brothers-in-law, Robert Norton, and Mike (Judy) Norton; sisters-in-law, Betty (Joe) Logan, Rosella (Ted) Bales, Barbara (JR.) Mills, and Rosylea (Jerry) Hummer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., with Father Dave Newton presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Montpelier.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

CHARLES E. GILLAND


HARTFORD CITY, IN
Charles E. “Chuck” Gilland, 78, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 in the V. A. Medical Center, Marion.

He was born July 14, 1935 in Hartford City to Lawrence and Fern (Sills) Gilland and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1954.
Chuck served in the Marines from 1956-1960. He worked at Crist, Inc., Hartford City.

He married Evelyn Arbuckle on August 28, 1960.
Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the Amvets Post 23, both in Hartford City.

Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Kim (Geoff) Harlow, Hartford City; one brother, Jack (Janice) Gilland, Hartford City; one sister, Judie (Douglas) Bay, Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Kacey Harlow and Jeffrey Gilland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bret Gilland.

A memorial visitation for friends and family will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
