Delbert D. Carroll, 84, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013
in Miller’s Merry Manor, Hartford City.
Del was born April 19, 1929 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of
Leo M. and Lottie (Campbell) Carroll. He was raised in Clarinda, Iowa and graduated
from College Springs High School, College Springs, Iowa and later from Clarinda
Jr. College.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Del worked as a
salesman at Quality Mills, Lauer’s Clothing Store, Plymouth, Indiana. He moved
to Hartford City in 1954 and worked at Stein’s Men’s Wear. He also was an EMT
for 10 years and Blackford County Assessor for over 12 years, retiring in 1988.
Del was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus #1639, Elks Lodge, American Legion, Amvets, and the
Blackford Country Club.
Surviving are: a brother, Robert (Juanita) Carroll, College
Springs, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Richard Carroll.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 in
Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Father Robert
Williams officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Iowa.
Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m.
Tuesday.
