DARRELL WAYNE WHITESELL, JR.


HARTFORD CITY

Darrell Wayne Whitesell, Jr. (Wayne), 53, passed away at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital at 10:07 P.M. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
He was born in Hartford City on August 28, 1960 to the late Darrell Whitesell and Connie Dollar Whitesell.

Wayne graduated from Blackford High School in 1978 and attended the Muncie Career Center.
He worked at Blackford County schools in maintenance and also worked at Deslauriers Industries of Hartford City as a plant supervisor.

Wayne enjoyed working with computerized machines and robotics. He was a Harley-Davidson fan and owner and he also like fishing.
He will be sadly missed by his mother, Connie Whitesell and his two daughters, Stephanie Whitesell, of Anderson, and Tiffany (husband, Steven) Roderick, of Hartford City; four grandchildren, Kobe Burton, Bryce Burton, Dylan Roderick and Peyton Roderick; two sisters, Eva (husband, Gary) West, of Montpelier, and Rebecca (husband, Doug) Strine, of Hartford City; one brother, Robert Whitesell, of Fort Wayne, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Whitesell on March 5, 1985.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington, Hartford City, with Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

BETTY J. HOSS


HARTFORD CITY
Betty J. Hoss, 68, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at I. U. Health Blackford Hospital after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was born June 12, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of W. D. Howard, Sr. and Martha (Bragg) Howard. She grew up in Upland graduating from Jefferson Township High School in 1963. She married William Hoss, Sr. on April 15, 1977 in Grant County.
She worked for Community & Family Services, was site manager for Area 6 Meals on Wheels and was social services director at Miller’s Merry Manor, Hartford City. Betty had also been a Girl Scout Leader when her girls were young.
She is survived by children, Richael (Charles) Warner Atkinson, Hartford City, Rhonda (Carey) Crawford, Hartford City and Rita (Randy) Cook, Keystone; step-daughters, Shelly Lester, Marion, and Lisa Evans, Gas City; step-son, William Hoss, Jr., Alexandria; brothers, Doug (Ruth) Howard, Upland and Tom Howard, Upland; sister-in-law, Pennie (Ed) Abels, Coldwater, OH; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her furry canine companions, Cuddles and Chloe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 2001.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. February, 12, 2014 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City with Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Montpelier.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
