BETH ANN JEFFRIES


Hartford City
Beth Ann Jeffries, 59, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Bridgewater Centre, Hartford City.

She was born in Muncie on September 22, 1955 to Stanley and Doris (Sutton) Jeffries.
Beth Ann was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Hartford City.

Survivors include her father, Stanley Jeffries, Hartford City, two sisters, Karen Wigmore, Fort Wayne and Kimberly (Chris) Schwarzkopf, Geneseo, Illinois, a brother, Bruce (Peggy) Jeffries, Rock Port, Missouri, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Dustin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Family or the Trinity United Methodist Church.

RUSSELL BRIAN TREES


Hartford City
Russell Brian Trees, 55, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

He was born on August 26, 1959 in Marion to David E. and Judy L. (Careins) Trees and was a graduate of Blackford High School in 1978. Russell married Donna Haas in Hartford City on November 23, 2006. She survives.
Russell worked for Strick Trailer Manufacturing in Monroe as a welder and metal fabricator. He also did welding for Second Harvest Food Bank. 

Surviving are: his wife, Donna; daughters, Christina E. (Edwards) Riddle (Jeff, Jr.) and  Megan C. Edwards; son, Samuel T. Edwards; foster children, Renee Jenkins and Korie Jenkins; his mother, Judy L. Trees; brothers, Mark, Steve (Angie) and Bruce (Bobbie Sue) Trees; sister-in-law, Diane (Robert) McEniry; and three grandchildren,  several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 to the time of the service.

ESTHER V. KNOX


Hartford City

Esther V. Knox, 97, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Hartford City.
She was born April 6, 1918 in Jay County to Howard and Alice (Watt) Quillen and attended Pennville schools. She married Howard W. Knox on December 10, 1935 in Portland and he passed away November 24, 2000.

Esther was a member of Women of the Moose #225 and the Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Club.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Joretta) Knox, Hartford City, a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Knox, Hartford City, five grandchildren, Allen (Kim) Knox, Jay (Diane) Knox, Joni (Brett) Sinclair, Lisa (Mike) Fanning, and Rob (Melissa) Knox,  fifteen  great-grandchildren, two brothers,  Harold Quillen, Georgia, and Howard (Mildred) Quillen, Jr., Dunkirk.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Knox, a great-granddaughter, Angela, three brothers, Delma Quillen, Paul Quillen, John Raymond Quillen and a sister, Ethel Holt.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Mike Fanning officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 20.

EDNA M. PHILLIPS

Edna M. Phillips, 82, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, in IU Health Blackford Hospital.

She was born in Indianapolis on June 17, 1932 to Alfred and Rachel (Powell) Boling and attended Arsenal Technical High School.
Edna married Lonnie L. Phillips in Kentucky on October 21, 1950. His death occurred on March 9, 1977.  Edna moved to Hartford City from Jay County in 1980.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and had attended the Calvary Christian Lighthouse Church, both in Hartford City. Edna worked at the Senior Citizens Center retiring in 2000.
Edna is survived by a brother, George (Emily) Boling, Indianapolis and special friends, Rod and Chris Hawes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, six sisters and five brothers.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Montpelier.

Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

JANICE E. HOLTZLEITER

Janice Ellen Holtzleiter, 85, life resident of the Upland-Hartford City area, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Bridgewater Centre, Hartford City.
She was born in Grant County on November 7, 1929 to Perry and Olive (Bricker) Jenkins and graduated from Jefferson Township School in 1947. Janice married Clarence Hotlzleiter on July 10, 1947 in Hartford City.

Janice was a homemaker and worked at 3-M Company for 31 years retiring in 1990. She loved flowers, gardening, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. 
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Altar-Rosary Society and CPC Sympathy Club, Marion.

Surviving are: three daughters, Theresa Moorman, Hartford City, Connie (Michael) Williams, Orlando, FL and Elizabeth (Steve) Gress, Morrisville, NC; seven grandchildren including Robin Johnson (fiancé Kevin Hicks), whom she raised; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Theresa and Robin were her devoted caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on March 21, 2012, her brother, Fred Jenkins and her sister, Lucille Blair.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11 in St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Visitation will be Friday, April 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City and from 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Christian Wake Service will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in the form of masses to the church.
