Robert Price


HARTFORD CITY, IN
Robert C. Price, 92, passed away, Monday evening, September 28, 2015 in IU Blackford Hospital.
Bob was born on December 4, 1922 in Blackford County to William and Clara (Sands) Price.  He graduated from Hartford City High School and lived his entire life in Blackford County.  On May 8, 1943 he married Georgette Hornbaker in Hartford City.  Her death occurred January 29, 2005.
Bob was a well-known farmer in Blackford County where he served on the School Board, was a member of the Delaware County Co-Op, Blackford County Fair Board and was a founding member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Hartford City, where he also served as an Elder.
Surviving are his son, John Price (wife, Marilynn), of Hartford City, four grandchildren: Dave Price (wife, Allyson), Mike Price (fiancé, Suzanne), Julie Dodd (husband, Chad), and Andy Price (wife, Sarah), seven great-grandchildren: Marcus Price, Nick Price, Kyle Price, Kaden Price, Scott Dodd, Kendra Dodd, and Brooklynn Dodd, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Georgette, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Paul Price, a daughter, Connie, three brothers: Ralph Price, Cleo Price, and Edward Price.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 610 N. Reserve St. Muncie, Indiana, with Pastor Daniel Mackey officiating.   Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hartford City.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Waters Funeral Home 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

JOAN A. STRINE


Hartford City             
Joan A. Strine, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Heritage Pointe, Warren, Indiana.

She was born October 31, 1942 to Charles and Lillian (Nappen) Wickham in Minot, North Dakota. Joan graduated from Minot High School in 1960 and from Minot State College in 1964. She married Frederick N. Strine in Minot on December 20, 1963.
Joan worked as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell, Marion and later was a day care provider for many years in her home.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the church choir, and the Ladies Quilting Group at church. She also sang with Blackford Community Choir, the Purdue Home Extension Group and the Marion Easter Pageant for many years.
Survivors include a son, Rick Strine, Decatur, Illinois, a daughter, Shelly McCammon, Poneto; three granddaughters, Adrienne (Calvin) McClure, Alison McCammon and Autumn McCammon and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, and her brother, James Wickham.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe St., Hartford City with Pastor David Fleenor officiating. Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy and Carolyn Steinfeldt, AIM will be assisting. Burial will follow the service in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call on Friday, September 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

PATRICIA A. SCHANTZ


Hartford City
Patricia A. Schantz, 90, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born in Fort Wayne to William and Kathryn (Blackwell) McCaffrey on August 31, 1925 and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1943. On July 22, 1950 Pat married William Schantz in St. John’s Catholic Church, Hartford City. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2014.
Pat was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Altar-Rosary Society, Wit and Wisdom Club, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, served on the board of the Blackford Community Foundation and served as Vice President of Hartford Concrete Products.

Pat enjoyed her beautiful garden. She served her local and global community through her kind and generous work with Meals on Wheels and founding a Psi Iota Xi Thrift Shop which evolved into New to You Thrift Shop. She particularly wanted to help disadvantaged youth in poor or dangerous living environments. She strongly supported the work of pro-life organizations and anyone in need.
Survivors include one son, John (Trudy) Ryan, Logansport; five daughters, Laura (Randy) Baird, Fremont, Kathryn (Todd) Helmke, Fort Wayne, Joanne (Greg) Leach, Angola, Karen (Rich) Uggen, Hartford City and Julie (Paul) McCarthy, Carmel; fifteen grandchildren, Shelly Haines, Sean Ryan, Ashley Keegan, Elamie Hartman, Brittany Helmke, Austin Helmke, Chad Helmke, Evan Leach, Lauren Leach, Landon Leach, Anya Uggen, Ammee Uggen, Max Uggen, Will Uggen and Luke McCarthy. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, William McCaffrey, and two sisters, Maxine Elliott and Rita Westrick.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Father Dave Newton and Father Keith Hosey at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19 in St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday, September 18 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
A Christian Wake Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are for Masses or Schantz Family Scholarship Fund through the Blackford Community Foundation.
