RAYMOND M. MADDOX, D.D.S.


Muncie, IN
Dr. Raymond M. Maddox, 66, passed away Tuesday morning, March 31, 2015, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a recent illness.
Ray was born June 10, 1948 in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Jim and Anne (Stout) Maddox. He was a graduate of Hartford City High School class of 1966, Taylor University in 1971 with his undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry, and graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1975.
He married Kay Akers on August 14, 1971 in New Castle and together they raised two children, Meredith and Matthew.
Dr. Maddox practiced dentistry in Rushville and Hartford City until his recent illness.
He was past president of the Indiana Dental Association, delegate to the American Dental Association caucus 7th district, fellow of the American College of Dentists, fellow of the International College of Dentists, fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy, president of the American College of Dentistry-Indiana Foundation, treasurer of the International College of Dentistry-Indiana Foundation, vice speaker of IDA House of Delegates, Parlimentarian of IDA House of Delegates.
Surviving are wife of 43 years, Kay; daughter, Meredith (Jay) Williamson, Fishers, son, Dr. Matthew (Binnette) Maddox, Sun Prairie, WI, parents, Jim and Anne Maddox, Muncie, one grandson, Carter Maddox and three granddaughters, Lily and Sophie Maddox, and Corrine Williamson; brother, Gary (Sharon) Maddox, FL, sister, Melissa Rocco, Yorktown, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 3, 2015 in Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W. Washington St., with Rev. Dr. Gary Hall presiding. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City from 4-8 P.M. Thursday, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

DIXIE L. SUMMERLOT


Bloomington, Indiana
Dixie L. Summerlot, 64, former Hartford City resident, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 in I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

She was born in Hartford City May 10, 1950 to Thomas A. Knight, Jr. and Elda (McKibben) Knight Roberts. Dixie graduated from Hartford City High School in 1968 and married Jerry Summerlot on July 15, 1968.
She had worked as a pharmacy technician at CVS in Hartford City for several years.

Dixie was one of the founding members of Blackford County Relay for Life.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry, Bloomington, daughter, Angela Summerlot, Bloomington, sister, Nancy (Monte) Hedden, Hartford City, grandson, Malachi Summerlot, sister-in-law, Ruby Knight and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Bill Roberts and a brother, Tommy Knight.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Ellen Adney officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service.

Preferred memorials are Blackford Cancer Coalition/Relay for Life or Hartford City Fire Department with envelopes available at the funeral home.

CLARA L. MEACHAM


Port Richey, Florida
Clara L. Meacham, 90, passed away February 23, 2015 in Port Richey, Florida. She formerly resided in Hartford City and retired to Florida in 1987.

She was born August 31, 1924 in Jonesboro, Ohio to Edward E. and Clara (Rhoades) Ashmore and attended Hartford City schools.
Clara was married to Dean Meacham, who passed away March 9, 1977.

She was co-owner and driver for Dean’s Cab Company, Hartford City. She had also worked at Dacra Glass in the late 1970’s and several years at Overhead Door Manufacturing.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenna Starr, Port Richey, FL and Sandra Starr, Hawthorne, FL; one son, Ronnie (Judy) Norris, Auburn, IN; two sisters, June Reeb and Julia Fannon, both of Ohio; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents.
No service is planned. Burial will be in Hartford City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015.
