ROBERT S. BRINKERHOFF, PHD.


Hartford City
Robert S. Brinkerhoff, PhD, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 in I. U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born July 21, 1932 in Teaneck, New Jersey, to James Walter Brinkerhoff, Sr. and Jane (Soley) Brinkerhoff. He graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School, Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. He was also a graduate of Barrington College, Barrington, Rhode Island, Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California and received his PhD from the University of Chicago.
Bob married Harriet Gates on June 16, 1956 in Needham, Massachusetts.

Dr. Brinkerhoff was the director of the Christian Counseling Center, Clifton, New Jersey for over 20 years. After retiring he worked part time at the Anderson Psychiatric Clinic, Anderson, Christian Counseling Center of Madison County and Wabash Friends Church Counseling Center, Wabash.
He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hartford City and enjoyed the adult Sunday school class and weekly Bible Study.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet; one son, Stephen Brinkerhoff (wife, Joanne), Hartford City; one daughter, Carol Helmick (husband, Brian), Hartford City; eight grandchildren, Adrian, Lucas, Caleb, Joshua, Jessica and Malachi Brinkerhoff, Michael Keenan and Kristen Javed (husband, K J). One great-grandchild, Kaylie Javed, also survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Walter Brinkerhoff, Jr., Charles Brinkerhoff and John Brinkerhoff.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 in First Presbyterian Church, 117 W. Franklin St., Hartford City with Pastor Susan Finley officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

MARK H. LOVE


Hartford City
Mark H. Love, 66, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Muncie.

A life resident of Blackford County, he was born in Hartford City on December 2, 1949 to Hansel and Elsie (Clamme) Love. Mark graduated from Hartford City High School in 1968 and attended Purdue University. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at Purdue and was a member of the Purdue Judging team.
Mark worked with Loveland, Inc. which was his family’s farm operation south of Hartford City. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and was a devout Purdue supporter.

Mark was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Joan Valente and Ann (Phillip) Gardner, both of Pendleton; aunts and uncles, Louanna Mossburg, Margaret Denton, Louise Clamme and Don (Marsha) Love.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Les.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in Union Cemetery, Eaton with Pastor David Fleener presiding.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Purdue University School of Agriculture.

ESTHER N. CORTRIGHT


Hartford City
Esther N. Cortright, 87, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Dola, Ohio on May 20, 1928 to Rev. Frank and Bertha (Reece) Dell and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1945. She attended Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, for a year and Indiana Business College, Fort Wayne, for 2 years.
Esther married Norman Cortright on December 11, 1954 in Fort Recovery, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Esther worked as a secretary at Hartford City High School for many years. She later worked at Blackford County Hospital and Ball Memorial Hospital as a medical transcriptionist.
Survivors include a son, Craig (Donna) Cortright, Bluffton, a daughter, Nancy Cortright, Hartford City, and a brother, Charles Dell, Lima, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, John Dell, and sister, Eleanor Hosier.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in the Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe St., Hartford City with Pastor David Fleener presiding. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, east of Hartford City.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Frederick Lee Ford, 45, passed away March 2, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Marion October 17, 1970 to Frederick Ford and Constance (Merrell) Berry.
A Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
