Adrian D. Ramey, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Heritage Pointe, Warren.
He was born September 1, 1922 in Mitchell, Indiana, the son of Lewis and Merline (Williams) Ramey and was a 1940 graduate of Fort Wayne Southside High School. He married Lucille Gelhaus in Fort Wayne on August 24, 1946. He had been a tank truck driver for Shell Oil Company, Muncie for 35 years, retiring July 26, 1984.
Adrian was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the Signal Corps.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a former member of American Legion Post #159.
Surviving are: his wife, Lucille; 4 sons, Dennis (Vicki) Ramey, Ossian, Michael (Janis) Ramey, Hartford City, Timothy (Marianne) Ramey, Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Gregory Ramey, Hartford City; a daughter, Beth (Jack) Norton, Hartford City; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David, a brother, Wayne, and a grandson, Bryan Ramey.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City, Indiana. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Building Fund or in the form of masses.

Barbara G. Lewis, 73, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Bridgewater Centre, Hartford City.
She was born February 17, 1936 in Blackford County, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Melick) Townsend. She graduated from Roll High School in 1953 and was valedictorian of her class. She married Charles Lewis July 19, 1955 in Albany, Indiana. His death occurred November 17, 2003.
Barbara had resided in Madison, Indiana for several years prior to moving to Muncie, then Hartford City. A homemaker, Barbara had worked for Central Indiana Gas Company in Marion and Muncie from 1955-1959. She then worked for Indiana & Kentucky Electric Storage and Chemical Departments from 1959-1971. She then gave quilting lessons at Marge’s Country Store and Piano, Madison.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and Tri Kappa Sorority, Madison, and had been a winner of the Blackford County Daughters of American Revolution Award.
Survivors include two aunts, Ethel Smelser, Royerton and Norma Jean Melick, Hartford City, and cousins, Judith (Neil) Sodders, Hartford City, Phyllis Ann Melick, Millgrove, Pat (Larry) Randle, Muncie, Ron (Penny) Smelser, Shelbyville, Dollie Willman, Fort Wayne, and Rev. Donald (Shirley) Willman.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Cremation will take place with private interment in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.

The daughter of John R. and Charlotte (Wedekin) Coulter, she was born August 26, 1923 in Hartford City. She married Gerald N. Wilhems on August 2, 1941. His death occurred September 5, 2002.
A homemaker, Bert had worked at Sheller-Globe and Fergus Canning Company and had also babysat for several local families.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Society of the church.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Jerry (Carol) Wilhems, Green Valley, AZ and Pat (Lora Jo) Wilhems, Hartford City; a sister, Alice Wrestler, Hartford City; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Coulter, 3 sisters, Violet McDermit, Florence Wedekin and Nellie Coulter and a grandson, Zach Wilhems.

Dorothy Arlene Rhonemus, 89, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 25, 1920 in Hartford City, the daughter of Raoul “Polly” and Daisy (Wrestler) Wallem. She was married to Everett F. Rhonemus who died in 1982.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Amvets and American Legion Auxiliaries.
Dorothy loved to travel and had visited Greece, Poland and Paris, France. She loved dancing and enjoyed playing the organ and studying nature.
Surviving are: a son, Terry Bryce Worley, Kansas and a daughter, Judy Arlene (Robert) Booher, Hollywood, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Shane Weaver, Kristy Speidel, Deanna Lovett, Douglas Weaver, Bryan Hardy, Joey Worley, Nelson Worley, and Andrea “Susie” Worley ; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Cole and Lois Jean Lamotte.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Nancy Middaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Wilbur F. Bowen, 80, passed away Tuesday, June, 30, 2009, in Ball Memorial Hospital.
The son of Wilbur J. and Emily M. (Lechien) Bowen, he was born September 11, 1928, in Chicago and moved to Hartford City as a child. Wilbur graduated from Hartford City High School in 1946. He married Agnes Schott in Alexandria on September 25, 1954.
Wilbur was employed at Overhead Door for 19 years and then worked as a truck driver for Hartford Concrete Products for 33 years.
Wilbur was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Agnes; his children, Julia & Mark Mc Cleary, Indianapolis, Patricia & Rusty Beedle, De Motte, Mary Bowen, Fort Wayne, Jeffrey & Gayle Bowen, Westfield, Teresa & Terry Maddox, Plainfield, IL and Joseph Bowen, Hartford City;10 grandchildren, Anna & Erik Christensen, Patrick Mc Cleary, Andrew & Daniel Beedle, Abigail, Emily & Matthew Bowen, Margaret & Michael Maddox ; and many nieces and nephews.

George R. Duncan, 70, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009 at Miller’s Merry Manor after an extended illness.
A native of Rolling Station, Tennessee, he was born July 9, 1938, the son of Ira F. and Hallie M. (Wilburn) Duncan and was a resident of Blackford County since childhood.
A 1956 graduate of Roll High School, he also received an accounting degree from Indiana Business School in Fort Wayne.
George was a self-employed contractor most of his life and had worked at Waters Funeral Home over ten years. He was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Cora Jean Caladine (husband, Richard), Hagerstown, MD; one son, Jeffrey R. Duncan (wife, Renea), Delphi, IN; one brother, Ron F. Duncan, Albany; two sisters, Glenda Schroeder (husband, Ivan), Maquoketa, IA and Phyllis Maxwell (husband, Alvin), Cadiz, OH; one brother-in-law, J. Robert Mitchell, Lafayette; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother on February 8, 1978, his father on November 28, 1996, his step-mother, Estel Bratton Duncan on October 8, 2005 and his sister, Brenda Mitchell on December 12, 2005.
