DUAINE A. MCKEE

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Duaine A. McKee, 79, formerly of Hartford City, passed away, Friday evening, August 29, 2014 at his home in Palmview, Texas after a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born and raised in Rochester, Indiana March 3, 1935, the son of Archie and Dolla (Burkett) McKee and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He attended Ball State University, and was a member of the Elks Lodge 625, Amvets Post 23, American Legion #159 and the former Moose Lodge 225, all of Hartford City.
Duaine worked for Champion Home Builders of Elkhart for 15 years and had owned and operated Northside Sunoco in Hartford City from 1976-1978. He had also been employed by Weaver Popcorn, Van Buren and Key Plastics, Hartford City.

He leaves behind his wife of almost thirty-eight years, Peggy Pierson McKee, six daughters, Margaret “Maggie” (Byron) Jones of Kennewick, Washington, Patsy (Fred) Duran, Delta, Alabama, Terrie (Joey) Zelano, New Castle, Delaware, Debora Cole, Hartford City, Donna (Dave) Pierce, Huntsville, Alabama, and Tina (Darrell) Oxford, Palestine, Texas; three step-sons, David (Edie) Pierson, Charles (Angie) Pierson, and Thomas (Barb) Pierson, all of Hartford City; three sisters, Dixie (Royce) Curry, Salado, Texas, Judy (Chuck) Bliss, Salado, Texas, and Cathy Minniear of Des Moines, Iowa; 27 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sheila Kuhn, and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Pastor Gary Hall of New Community Worship presiding.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the start of the service at 2:00 P.M.

Military Honors will be presented at the conclusion of the memorial service by Dunkirk American Legion Post 227.
