HAROLD O. SUTTON

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Harold O. Sutton, 90, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his residence.

He was born January 7, 1919 in Blackford County, the son of Arthur and Mary Ethel (Oren) Sutton. A life resident of Blackford County, he attended Hartford City Schools. Harold married Bertha Cale June 4, 1943 in Hartford City. Her death occurred on October 1, 1986.

He was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the African Theatre.

Harold worked at Warner Gear, Muncie, retiring after 26 years of employment.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Gas City, and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hartford City. He was a member of VFW Post, Gas City, where he served as chaplain and was a life member of American Legion Post #159, Hartford City.

Surviving are: a son, Larry Sutton, Hartford City; a daughter, Patricia (Royce) Allison, Fairmount; 2 daughters-in-law, Sharon Sutton, Evansville and Mary Lou Sutton, Alton, IL; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 2 sons, Harold L. and Thomas J. Sutton, a brother, Arthur Sutton, and a sister, Ruth Martin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 16 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie, with military rites by Delaware County Veterans Organizations.

Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and from 9-9:30 a.m. Monday. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to University Nursing Home, Upland, or masses to St John the Evangelist Church, or New Hope Hospice, 730 W. 35th St., Marion, IN 46953.
