HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA
Max Richard Snyder,
77, passed away Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 in IU Health Blackford
Hospital.
A native and life
resident of Hartford City, he was one of five children born Nov. 11, 1934 to
Charles Russell and Thelma M. (Pentecost) Snyder, Sr. and was a Lance Corporal
upon his discharge from serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Max retired from
Box USA (formerly St. Joe Container) Hartford City in 1997 after forty-two
years of service and gave twenty-two and a half years of service to the
Hartford City Volunteer Fire Department.
He attended the
Bethel Center Church of the Brethren, was a member of the Montpelier Lodge #600
F & A.M., the Mizpah Shrine, American Legion Post #159 and the Indiana
Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
Max is survived by
his wife of fifty-five years, Sharon (Markin) Snyder; two sons Richard Wayne
(wife, Shannon) of Indianapolis and Montpelier Police Chief, Chris Snyder; six
grandchildren, Rachael, Ryan, Jessica, Bailey, Shaylah and Levi; as well as
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his
parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles R. Snyder, Jr.,
Donald E. Snyder and Jerry Snyder, as well as his sister, Judith “Judy” Snyder.
Funeral services
will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1 in the Bethel Center Church of the
Brethren, State Road #26 and Co. Rd. 175 W, with Pastor Ellen Adney
presiding. Burial will be in the
Hartford City Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Dunkirk American
Legion.
Visitation will be
Sunday, Sept. 30 from 2 – 8 p.m. in Waters Funeral Home 501 W. Washington St.,
Hartford City, and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the church.
Montpelier Lodge
#600 will conduct a memorial service at 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials
may be sent to Montpelier Lodge #600 Craft Club, for parking lot
paving/maintenance or to the Shriner’s Hospital Transport Fund.
