Raymond C. (Elmo) Elwood, 76, passed away Wednesday,
February 20, 2013 at Bridgewater Centre.
A lifelong resident of Blackford County, he was born on
November 16, 1936, the son of the late Dean R. (Bud) and Lavelle (Lambert)
Elwood.
Raymond was a U. S. Navy veteran serving from 1954-1962. Ray
retired from 3M Company after 40 years of employment.
Surviving are children: Jeff (Becky) Darnell, Susan (Michael) Jones,
Clayton D. (Lisa) Elwood, all of Hartford City, Randy R. Elwood, Pennville, Michael
A. Elwood, Hartford City, Michelle E. (Jordon) Hope, Georgetown, KY, and Jerry
A. Elwood, Hartford City; four granddaughters, Jamie (Matthew) Kantz, Jessica A.
Dobbs, Hartford City, Jordon (Jeremy) Crank, Lexington, KY, and Sarah M. Hope,
Georgetown, KY; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Marley Rae and Liam; three
sisters, Della Hornbaker, Mae Ann Naylor, and Patricia Stanley.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A.
(Darnell) Elwood in 1998, a son Terry J. Elwood, a brother, Rollin Dean Elwood,
and two sisters, Barbara Hornbaker and Velma Nassif.
A private family service will be held with burial made in
Union Cemetery, Eaton with graveside military rites by Delaware County Veterans
Organization. The family has entrusted arrangements with Waters Funeral Home,
501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
