Robert E.
Elwood, 89, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 in IU Health Blackford
Hospital.
He was born
June 14, 1925 in Hartford City, the son of Raymond and Katherine (Risinger)
Elwood. Bob attended Hartford City Schools and was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
He married Mary Kerlin on November 24, 1946 in Hartford City.
He was
employed at Warner Gear in Muncie for 36 years, retiring in 1980.
Bob was a
member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Christian Home Builders Sunday
School Class, AARP, Amvets Post #23, American Legion Post #159, and Blackford
Lodge #106 F&AM. He also served his community as a Hartford City volunteer
fireman for 20 years and as a Hartford City policeman. Bob was a sports fan,
particularly for the Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, and Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving
are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Diana (Steven) Seelig; son, Ross (Cheryl)
Elwood, both of Hartford City; a sister, Dora (Ralph) Holsinger, rural Gaston;
3 grandchildren, Brian Seelig, Kari Johnson, and Kerbi Elwood; 3
great-grandchildren, Brayden, Shaylen, and Kaymen Johnson, as well as several
nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Odus and Dean Elwood, and sisters,
Evelyn Williams, Irene Hopkins, and Edna Pierson.
Funeral services
will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 with Rev. Lloyd
Hall officiating. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Friends may
call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, and one hour prior to
the service on Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St.,
Hartford City. Masonic services will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.
The family

Blackford Hospital for their compassionate care.
