CHARLES F. LIGHTLE

McCordsville, In

Charles F. Lightle, 78, died Monday, March 14 at his daughter’s residence in McCordsville.

He was born in Wells County on August 10, 1932 to Marzelos and Vivian (Townsend) Lightle. He graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in 1946 and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1950. He had resided in Anderson for 22 years prior to moving to McCordsville.

Charles served in the Air Force during the Korean War and worked for Fisher Body, Marion, retiring after 27 years of employment.

Charles was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the UAW, Marion, and was an avid Cubs fan.

Surviving are two sons, James (Joan) Lightle, Charlotte, NC and George (companion, Billy) Lightle, Orlando, Florida, one daughter, Cindy (Donald) Royse, McCordsville, three brothers, John (Marsha) Bauer, Hartford City, John and Neldon Lightle, both of Marion, one sister, Rose Marie (Steve) Brown, Jonesboro, and a half-sister, Nancy Lightle. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several aunts.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father, George H. Bauer, brothers, George F. Bauer and Lyle Lightle, companion, Mary Biddle, and two step-daughters, Renee Fox and Tina McNannee.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Father Dave Newton and Father Robert Williams at 11 a.m. March 17 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow with military rites in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 and evening visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to American Cancer Society.
