HARTFORD CITY, IN
Charles E. “Chuck” Gilland, 78, passed away Friday, November
1, 2013 in the V. A. Medical Center, Marion.
He was born July 14, 1935 in Hartford City to Lawrence and
Fern (Sills) Gilland and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1954.
Chuck served in the Marines from 1956-1960. He worked at
Crist, Inc., Hartford City.
He married Evelyn Arbuckle on August 28, 1960.
Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the Amvets
Post 23, both in Hartford City.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Kim
(Geoff) Harlow, Hartford City; one brother, Jack (Janice) Gilland, Hartford
City; one sister, Judie (Douglas) Bay, Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Kacey
Harlow and Jeffrey Gilland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bret
Gilland.
A memorial visitation for friends and family will be from 5
– 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington
St., Hartford City.
