M. KAY SHELLENBARGER

HARTFORD CITY
M. Kay Shellenbarger, 73, died unexpectedly Friday, September 12, 2014 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

A native and life resident of Blackford County, she was born September 16, 1940 to Robert S. and Nellie L. (Day) Howell and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1958. She regularly attended the Class of 1958 monthly luncheons.
She formerly belonged to Job’s Daughters, the Bar-B Saddle Club and 4-H Junior Leaders. She had been a 4-H leader and a Boy Scout leader.

Kay had been employed by National (Standard) Food Store, Hartford Novelty, Indiana Box, DeWitt Laundry, Sinclair Glass, Bluffton Rubber and most recently, Keihin Manufacturing, Muncie.
Kay and her daughter, Lisa, shared the same hobbies and interests: fishing, camping, leather crafting and love of animals, especially cats and dogs.

Kay is survived by one son, Jerry L. Shellenbarger, Jr., Hartford City and several cousins including Charles Babbitt, Portland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Linda Sue Howell and her daughter, Lisa Ann, who died September 11, 2014.

LISA ANN SHELLLENBARGER

Lisa Ann Shellenbarger, 50, died Thursday morning September 11, 2014 at University Nursing Center, Upland, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born November 30, 1963 in Hartford City, the daughter of Jerry L. Shellenbarger, Sr. and M. Kay (Howell) Shellenbarger and graduated from Blackford High School in 1981.
Lisa had worked at Dacra Glass and Walmart, Marion.

Lisa and her mother were long-time and faithful members of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, seldom missing church services. Kay had served as church treasurer and as secretary-treasurer of Sunday School. 
Survivors include her brother, Jerry L. Shellenbarger, Jr., Hartford City and several cousins.

Funeral services for Kay and Lisa will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastors Ron Johnson and Gary Hall presiding. Private interment will follow that afternoon at Mooreland Cemetery in Henry County.

Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.
