MARGARET VARGO

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Margaret A. Vargo, 73, former Hartford City resident, passed away Friday evening in Indianapolis.

The daughter of Tilden and Sarah (Chapman) Goff, she was born March 3, 1936 in Stone, Kentucky. She graduated from Belfry High School, Belfry, Kentucky. On September 4, 1954, Margaret married Carl Vargo in Stone, Kentucky. His death occurred on January 26, 1997.

Carl and Margaret moved to Hartford City in 1964. They owned and operated Vargo’s Bakery until they retired in 1996. In 1998 Margaret moved to Indianapolis.

Margaret was a former member of the Blackford Baptist Temple. .

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Carla (Brad) Mann, Arcadia and Lisa (Dan) Cutshaw, Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremy, Hannah, Noah, Gillian and Ethan Cutshaw and Michelle Bauer; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Barbara) Goff, TX and Burl (Carol) Goff, Jeffersonville, IN; 3 sisters, Yvonne (Troy) Bowling and Louise (Bobby) Glover, both of Charlestown, IN and Pat Williams, NC.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward Goff and Billy Goff, 2 sisters, Irene Askew, Edith Maynard, a half-sister, Grace Stanley, and a half-brother, Anthony Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 19, 2009 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Bill Cutshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
