C. James "Jim" Uhrick



HARTFORD CITY, IN

C. James “Jim” Uhrick, 72, prominent Hartford City businessman, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at I. U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 20, 1939 in Hartford City, the son of Clifford “Fritz” and Crystal (Alfrey) Uhrick. A life resident of Hartford City, Jim was a 1957 graduate of Hartford City High School and Indiana Barber College, Indianapolis. He married Diana Lewis in Roll, Indiana, on September 16, 1962 and would have celebrated their 50 year anniversary this September.

Jim began barbering with his father and worked for 50 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Blackford Lodge #106 F & AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, American Legion Post #159 for 34 years, Hartford City Cemetery Board, and had served in the Indiana National Guard from 1962-1965. Jim loved restoring classic cars and was a member of the M.V.C.C. Corvette Club.

Surviving are: his wife, Diana; 2 sons, Larry (Cindy) Uhrick, Huntingburg, IN and Rob (Judy) Uhrick, Muncie; 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild, Daniel, Kevin, Corbin Uhrick and Candice Hazelwood and her son, Holden Hazelwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathryn A. Mills.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.
