C. James “Jim” Uhrick, 72, prominent Hartford City
businessman, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at I. U. Health Ball Memorial
Hospital.
He was born December
20, 1939 in Hartford City ,
the son of Clifford “Fritz” and Crystal (Alfrey) Uhrick. A life resident of Hartford
City , Jim was a 1957 graduate of Hartford
City High School
and Indiana Barber
College , Indianapolis .
He married Diana Lewis in Roll, Indiana ,
on September 16, 1962 and
would have celebrated their 50 year anniversary this September.
Jim began barbering with his father and worked for 50 years,
retiring in 2007.
He was a member of Blackford Lodge #106 F & AM, Scottish
Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, American Legion Post #159 for 34 years, Hartford
City Cemetery Board, and had served in the Indiana National Guard from 1962-1965.
Jim loved restoring classic cars and was a member of the M.V.C.C. Corvette
Club.
Surviving are: his wife, Diana; 2 sons, Larry (Cindy)
Uhrick, Huntingburg , IN
and Rob (Judy) Uhrick, Muncie ; 4
grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild, Daniel, Kevin, Corbin Uhrick and Candice
Hazelwood and her son, Holden Hazelwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister,
Kathryn A. Mills.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4 in Waters Funeral Home, 501
W. Washington St. , Hartford
City with Pastor David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford
City Cemetery .
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.
